Dear Stakeholders,
Today, after the release of the latest movie “Tare Jameen Par”, everyone is
talking about the need of innovative ways to deal with children’s problems
but before that we must understand the purpose of education. According to UN
declaration (1989), Para 29 on the purpose of education.
“The goal of education should be to ensure total development of child’s
personality, talent and mental physical capabilities and also to prepare
him/her for a society which is full of understanding, peace & equality,
which in turn will enable them to lead a responsible life.”
If we carefully examine the said statement and compare the same vis-à-vis
Indian education system, we find that the achievement of the said objective
is still a distant dream. This crucial situation calls for self
introspection, involvement and a will to make impossible possible. To
accomplish this Herculian task, we as educators will have to nurture their
talent and develop their mental & physical capabilities to shape them into
ideal citizens for a society which is full of understanding, peace &
equality.
We must remember with pride that India is a land which has given the world
an early civilization, universities like Nalanda and Taxshila as high seats
of learning, scholars like Arya Bhatt, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar,
mathematicians like Bhaskaracharya, Ramanujan educationists like Maharshi
Aurbindo, Gurudev Ravindra Natha Tagore and Dr. Radhakrishnan, scientists
like C. V. Raman, J. C. Bose and missileman APJ Abdul Kalam, to name a few
genius. To continue this glorious tradition what is required today is the
reorientation of the mindset of stakeholders. We need to appreciate
intelligences with different abilities rather than focus only on the
achievements of the academic topper. True genius does not submit to
stereotypes but moves beyond them to give the world some of its greatest
inventions, discoveries and masterpieces of art.
For achieving the said objectives, a ‘playfulness’ has to be reintroduced in
our lives to create the right environment for learning. Albert Einstein
could master Mathematics just because his uncle Fredrick recited mathematics
in the form of poems which Einstein enjoyed the most. IPS is firmly working
on bringing this ‘playfulness’ in learning, amongst its students. We are
providing this natural habitat for the children to grow in every aspect of
their life. The reflection of this good work can well be seen in thinking
and behavior of the students of IPS.
At last I APPEAL the parents of budding students to play an equally
important role in bringing about this ‘playfulness’ in learning thereby
creating a win-win situation for everyone. They must understand the
capabilities of the child and extend all the support to the school on
working on the strength of the child to mould him/her to be the ‘best’. I
hope and firmly believe that with the single point agenda of bringing about
‘playfulness’ in learning, IPS, will contribute towards making responsible
citizens thereby a strong society which will result in making strong
“India.”
Wishing happy learning experience at IPS,
Dharmendra Goyal
Principal
